creating new vector shapes from existing

Global Mapper User
Is there a feature in Global Mapper that would allow me to create a new shape by outlining a loaded one?
I'd like to use the border feature to add thickness to an area - then "autotrace" the outlined/bordered area as a new shape.

You can create a new line feature from a selected area using the Digitizer Tool, but there is not a way to automaticallly create an area that is a growth of an existing feature (if that is what you are after).
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
