Importing kml/kmz files from google earth

Hello forummembers,

I like to import some polygons, created in and with Google Earth into Globalmapper.
When I try to open these kmz-files I receive an error notification, that these files could not be read.
"Error parsing KML file. Some data may be missing"
Does anybody know this problem and is there a solution for it?
I use globalmapper 9.00 and Google Earth 4.2

Thanks in advance,
Thomas

Would you feel comfortable attaching the KML/KMZ files so we could try?

What I did was open the file you gave me in Google Earth (newest version...just downloaded) and then saved the file locally on my computer. After that I opened it, with no problems in Global Mapper.

    Hello,

in my case it still does not work..
but when i save the polygon as a kml file then i can open it in globalmapper...
    weird...

Nevertheless, thank you for your support.

I just extracted your KMZ file from the .zip and it loaded fine into Global Mapper. From what you are describing (i.e. able to load from KML but not KMZ), it sounds like perhaps your drive with your temp folder on it is out of space or not writable. When Global Mapper loads an archive file (like a .zip, .kmz, or .tar.gz file), it first extracts the contents of that file to a folder under your Temp folder (wherever you have that set to be), then loads any recognized files from there. If it cannot extract the data, you will get errors.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
