Convert GM map catalog to Shapefile

I’m attempting to use a feature in GM that I have not used before, and it appears to not be working. Perhaps you can shed some light…?

I’ve created a GM map catalog from the tiles in a folder (which works fine), but when I try to convert the map catalog file to a shape file, nothing happens after I browse to the file and choose okay. There is a short period where a progress bar is displayed, but no new files appear to be created in the output folder.

I’m attaching the source file, thanks for your assistance

It looks like your map catalog only contains raster data files (like GeoTIFFs) and not vector data, so of course there is nothing there that can be exported to vector format files.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

It's the vector outlines of the tiles in the catalog that I am interested to export.

Ah, to do this, open the Control Center, right click on the map catalog, then choose to create outlines of the layer(s). That will give you a bunch of boundary area features that you can then export to vector formats.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

The resulting vector appears as "USER CREATED AND MODIFIED FEATURE". Is the only way to get the option to assign a feature type to them is to first export the vectors, and re-import them?

You can just use the Edit->Select All menu command to select them, then switch to the Digitizer Tool, right click, then edit the classification and attributes for the features.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,
