The WMS server for SRTM data which is used by GlobalMapper when you select File->Download online imagery seems to be down. Can't you download the data you need from another location? CGIAR-CSI SRTM 90m DEM Digital Elevation Database comes to mind.

I concur that downloading the SRTM data from the CGIAR server is your best option. The SRTM data is also available from The National Map Seamless Server.

Where did you click the a Help button that resulted in the error that you are seeing?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I am trying to download Dem information from Cgiar, I download the mask and then the data mask, but I am getting a gray square with the right coordinates but no elevation data. I´m problably missing something. The question is: This data from Cgiar does not look like the one you can get from the nasa.server?
    Thanks

You don't want to download the mask files. Those files just contain information in raster form about the source of the elevation used for each pixel in the actual elevation data files. You need to make sure to download the actual elevation data files and not the mask files.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
