While to export a xyz grid file, I keep getting an error that says:

Error getting WMS server capabilities
Service Exception getting WMS server capabilities:
Service denied due to system overload. Please try again later.
OGCWMSCapabilities.cpp-687
Build Time: Feb 23 2008 14:01:07

I'll get this error after highlighting the area I'm trying to export and hitting OK to get the picture of the area with the elevations. I have gotten this error before and what I usually do is close Global Mapper completely and open it again and is working fine. However I been having trouble since yesterday afternoon and have tried to export different areas to avoid the error and reopening Global Mapper has not work this time. In some cases I was able to get pass through this step but when it came to exporting the xyz grid file, it will freeze up in between or just stay at 0%. I usually run into this problem when trying to export a big line or area and in
some cases, smaller areas. I have been able to get by with few small areas but that's it. We do have a license for Global Mapper v9 and can see that we're registered from the top of the Global Mapper window.

The error that you are getting indicates that the server that you are pulling data from is overloaded. This is a problem with the WMS server and not something that we have any control over.

If you are accessing SRTM data, I would suggest perhaps downloading the data to your hard drive from CGIAR-CSI SRTM 90m DEM Digital Elevation Database (this site is free). Then you'll have the data local and it will load and export MUCH faster. If you are working with NED data, you can download it to your hard drive from The National Map Seamless Server.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
