Global Mapper v28.0 Beta is now open!

The beta license is valid until September 25, 2026. Please use this time to thoroughly test the software, with specific focus on the newly added functionality.

Note that when v28 officially releases, it will be licensed through the Hub.

This beta version includes many new and improved capabilities, most of which were added based on customer suggestions. We encourage you to check out the latest features added to beta: 

• Tree trunk classification and extraction in the Automatic Point Cloud Analysis Tool - trunks are identified in a point cloud by diameter at breast height (DBH) and length, assigned to the new Tree Trunk classification (code 74), and can be extracted as features with optional cylinder mesh models.
• Real-time preview window for Automatic Point Cloud Analysis - The window renders a classified point cloud subset and updates as the user adjusts and fine-tunes parameters, all without requiring a full analysis run.
• Multi-Spectral Imagery Support in Pixels to Points - P2P now supports the processing of imagery with more than 3 bands of data. Point clouds with up to 4 bands can now be created, and OrthoImagery with any number of bands. The multi-spectral images should be provided as 1 band per image.
• Further Pixels to Points optimization has improved processing time and output quality, especially in mesh completeness and edges.  
• Batch Convert/Reproject tool has been updated with full coordinate transformation support and a new, user-friendly interface. Find this tool in the File dropdown menu.
• Coordinate Converter tool has been expanded to support full 3D coordinate transformations. Find this tool in the Tools dropdown menu.
• Improved Geopackage support to maintain fidelity both in and out of Global Mapper. 
• Support for ESRI MapServer raster and ImageServer streaming sources in the Online Data tool 

Reporting An Error

If you encounter any errors, please contact beta@bluemarblegeo.com and include the following information:

• Description of the error/undesirable behavior
• Workflow to reproduce the error
• Data used (or sample/dummy data in the case of any proprietary datasets)
• Report error messages with as much available text as can be copied, or a screenshot
• Expected behavior

Including as much information as possible will ensure that a detailed report is provided to our development team to resolve your issue promptly. Updated builds will be released throughout the beta testing period, so if you encounter a problem that stops your testing, we will try to fix it as soon as possible.
