Coordinate transformation bug

Hi, I have a gmw file that works perfectly fine with GM 26.2, but generates the errors in the attached file with v27.0. The result is that a huge number of files do not load.

All the files data are in the right folders, otherwise v26.2 would not see them. It seems to me that the key lines are those:

WARNING: Unable to find a usable coordinate transformation from 'Equidistant_Cylindrical' to 'GCS_INTERPLANETARY_MARS_2000'.

This transformation is operated by v26.2 but not 27.0.

Thanks,

daniel

    Hi Daniel,

This is a known issue in GM 27.0 with the new projection engine. We are working on adding support for those (internal issue GM-21903) in an upcoming update to GM 27.0. For now, you would need to continue using GM 26.2 to support the non-earth systems.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Daniel,

We are working on getting all of the Interplanetary support into the newer Global Mapper. Can you provide some of the sample data and .gmw that you are working with so that we ensure everything works correctly with our new stuff?

You can send it to geohelp@bluemarblegeo.com .

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Not that easy because all my workspaces are tens to hundreds of GB.

I tried to subsample one of them and keep only the problematic files, but it turned out that some problematic files were not problematic anymore, removing some projection errors in the error log.

The alternative way I found is to generate a gmp file from one of my workspaces, called Ladon v2.gmw

    https://uncloud.univ-nantes.fr/index.php/s/QJ8wMrWbZRgmiBy

Thee error file below is what I got when I try to open Ladon v2.gmw with gm27.0.

But I see that opening Ladon v2.gmp with gm26.2 does not yield the same output as the Ladon v2.gmw. The workspace from the gmp file contains only a small fraction of the Ladon v2.gmw workspace... I do not understand why, I checked all the options during the gmp exporting procedure which I guess are needed to get the same workspace as the one of the gmw.

I am not sure how to proceed differently.... ?

    Hi Daniel,

If you can just provide the .gmw file itself (which should be much smaller), I think that will contain what we need. We can probably grab a couple of the raw samples ourselves. We are most interested in checking that the conversion between data sets using different Mars ellipsoids converts correctly between them.

    Thanks,

    Mike
