I can't seem to extract a simple line from a point cloud

in Vector Data

So I've got a point cloud with a few pipelines I wan't to vectorize. I'm creating a cross-section and use the perpendicular view to delineate the pipe. Once I extract the line, I get a zig-zag line. Is there something in my cross-section settings that is not set correctly?

    I’ll give that a shot. I’m sure I’m missing something in the settings. From the 3d view, the elevation looks correct with the zigzag only in the horizontal. The other funny thing is the depiction of the cross section’s delineation is show well below the point cloud.
