How to calculate the average height above ground for multiple LiDAR points

I have LiDAR data from a small plot trial in a peanut crop and need to calculate the average height above ground for all of the points within the plot area. When I select the points now I only get the average elevation not the average height above ground.

Export first your lidar using the option to save height above ground instead of elevation

Thanks for your reply.

I have exported the LiDAR as "hight above ground" then opened the file in GlobalMapper.

When I select the points in a plot area I get statistics that show Min, Max and average altitude. I assume that the "altitude" is actually height above ground now?
