opening .h5 file?

I downloaded some .h5 files from the earthdata site, but I don't know how to open them in GM. I'm hoping to be able to open them as a geotiff to get elevation data.

    The .h5 format is a somewhat generic scientific data format, but if the organization of the data is recognized by Global Mapper, you can just load the .h5 file with the normal File->Open Data File command.

    If that doesn't work and you can provide a sample (or point us at what you downloaded from the Earthdata site), we might be able to add support pretty easily.
