MLE - Grid Frame Disappears on Rotated Views

Hi Blue Marblers,

Back on my least favourite aspect of GM, the Map Layout Editor. I've noticed for a few versions now (I'm currently running V26.1) that when you try to plot a 90degree rotated view in the MLE that the Grid Frame around the border disappears!

It works okay for unrotated views and even some intermediate angles (up to about 60-70 degrees), but as soon as you rotate the workspace 90 degrees clockwise or anti-clockwise the grid disappears. It doesn't matter if you are using a Lat/Lon grid or current project grid. Refer to screen grabs below.

Could you please fix this bug as I'm tired of manually adding...

Thanks,

/al

  • P.S. Forgot to add that Arrows don't show on rotated views in the MLE either!

I would love to see the MLE getting de-bugged and improved one of these years. I'm sure there are other users out there who feel the same way...

  • Just giving this a nudge. Its still happening and is still annoying... 😫

    Hi CarrickCon,

Sorry, this fell way down my email list! It's been a very busy summer so far!

I've created todo item GM-20546 to address this issue. Hopefully I can get it fixed in a v26.1.x daily build update. I'll let you know when it's fixed.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi CarrickCon,

I was able to fix this issue, as well as another one with North Arrow display when Grid North bearings are used on a rotated map.

Once the change is approved it will be in the 26.1.3 daily build at https://www.bluemarblegeo.com/products/global-mapper-daily-builds.php, probably some time next week.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Thanks very much Mike that's awesome!

Were you able to fix the "Insert Arrow Element" problem also? Existing arrows don't display properly and you can't insert new arrows in the MLE in rotated views as shown below.

    Cheers,

    Alistair.

Oh I didn't notice that issue. I'll check that out as well.

    Thanks,

    Hi Alistair,

I have fixed the Arrow Element issue as well. It should show up in a 26.1.3 daily build later this week once the change is approved.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Awesome - thanks Mike.

Forgot to say that I'm also really enjoying the "Halo/Thick Halo" feature that you added recently...

    Cheers,
