DWG export with layer name in Japanese fails

Hi,

We didn't have this problem before so I don't know exactly since when but, if we try and export a DWG file from GM where a newly created layer has a japanese name, the export fails.

To replicate:

Open a new GM, create an area feature and give its layer a Japanese name as 日本語. Export to DWG.

We also tried changing our system language and our locale setting too but nothing changed.

Thank you in advance and best regards

    Hi Michele,

Which version of GM are you using? Is the export failing with an error?

I've just tried this in GM English v26.1.3 (b051525) and couldn't replicate an issue. I used the following settings for the DWG export:

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

I'm using the same 26.1.3 English version.

We noticed that if we change the Label language code in the options of the layer to something other than Japanese (UTF-8 or others), we are able to export the DWG.

The japanese version of GM export it correctly in any case.

    Hi Michele,

I was able to replicate this by setting the native layer code page to Japanese (it had been UTF-8). I'll investigate.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Michele,

I have fixed the issue. It should be in a 26.1.x daily build later this week.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Dear Mike,

Thank you for your quick response.

I'll try it once it is out and let you know how it went.

As always, thank you for your precious time, best regards.

  • Dear Mike,

I downloaded and tried the new daily build (downloaded today June 10th) and it exports the dwg even with japanese layer names with japanese setting for label but, the dwg has scrambled layer names.

Sorry for asking a lot, please try it on your side and let me know if there is any setting we could change so the layer names don't get scrambled.

Thank you for your patience and best regards

    Hi Michele,

It looks like I accidentally just put the fix in for the upcoming 27.0 release and not the 26.1.3 daily build. I've now put the fix in for 26.1.3, so probably by Friday's daily build it should be in there.

    Sorry about the confusion.

    Thanks,

    Mike
