MLE: Element Properties/Layers/Include All Workspace Layers Ticked/Unticked

Hi Blue Marblers,

Much as I love GM, so many of my frustrations relate to the Map Layout Editor! Grr! As a consulting engineer I need to present figures and drawings with my reports to support the analysis or design completed and I find it frustrating when I can't do this directly in GM due to bugs or minor annoyances! Its a complete waste of time to have to export to AutoCAD etc. when GM should be able to do it...

Today's frustration relates to the "Include All Workspace Layers in the Layout" in the MLE Element Properties checklist. When this was introduced to the MLE a few versions ago this was a huge step forward and meant that you could confidently save your figure template and not have to re-create it from scratch if for some reason GM "loses" your figures (yes, this still happens to me regularly!) or say you want to add it as a new/additional layout (New Layout/Add a new page...).

However, it seems in GM 26.1 when I select a template file previously saved with the "Include all workspaces..." tick box UNTICKED (as shown in upper screenshot below) to reuse it for another figure it opens up with the tick box TICKED and all layers selected (as shown in lower screen shot below). This basically means that we are back to where we were a few versions ago and have to manually select every layer that we previously displayed in a figure!

BTW - It also happens with the MLE legend which seems to forget the selected layers in the saved template and now displays all layers when the template is re-used (refer to third and fourth screenshots below).

I have deleted my earlier GM versions, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't happening in GM 25 but unfortunately I can't test it...

Could you guys please fix this so that once a MLE figure template is saved it "stores or remembers" the selected layers to display and the correct legend layers? It would also be awesome if a saved template could "remember" the map scale and the Map Centre Point (this has annoyed me since GM 16/17 - I use a workaround recently published on the forum where I create a layer with "centre points" for each figure to save a lot of swearing).

Okay rant over. I still love this software but I swear some days..🤯.

Cheers,

/al
