Super critical Bug found, v26, cannot export an elevation .las/laz file from a 3d elevation grid

Basically its simple,

On 25.1 if I loaded some lidar points then turned them into a 3D grid using the Create elevation grid, or had a 3D grid from a .tiff or .dem file, then I wanted wanted to turn this grid back into points (after working on it) all you needed to do was click on export, select elevation grid, then select LiDAR LAS/LAZ and it would work just fine

As of v26 this is no longer possible and returns this error:

I just loaded the 25.1 version again and in that one the option works perfectly.

Just wanted to let you guys know of this error/bug, for now our workaround is to use 25.1 for all mesh to points operations but it would be great if it would be fixed on v26.

Well that was odd...

if I load a point cloud file along with the mesh and turn off the layer for export it works fine, but if i just have a mesh alone and try it it gives the error

Yep just tested it again, if I open a brand new global mapper window, load a dem/tiff/gmg 3d grid file, then hit export elevation as lidar points I get the error, however if I load another point cloud, any point cloud laz file and turn it off then try to export it works perfectly fine.

Not sure what's causing it but wanted to report the bug none the less.

I am unable to reproduce what you are seeing in Global Mapper 26.0.1.

Here is what I do:

1) Load a DEM grid

2) Use File -> Export -> Elevation Grid Format

3) Choose Lidar LAS format

4) Export dialog pops up and I can proceed as normal

Note that if you choose the File -> Export -> Vector / Lidar Format option, it will stop you as those exports are for vector or Lidar formats as input.

Ah, I was just checking the Lidar LAS export, which worked fine. This bug only affected Lidar LAZ export from elevation grids.

I have fixed the issue. The fix should show up in a 26.0.2 daily build at https://www.bluemarblegeo.com/products/global-mapper-daily-builds.php in a few days.

Ah! perfect Im glad you were able to find it, since the workaround is not terrible its all good we can work like this until the fix is up, we just wanted you guys to be aware of the issue
