Global Mapper v26.0

Points to Lines Options

Hi! New to Global Mapper. I'm on Pro v25.1. I have filtered a point cloud file down to this, which is basically an outline of the features I'm interested in. I would like to connect these points to form a lines (or polygons, I don't really care, I just need to bring them into AutoCAD). Elevation doesn't matter, because it's going on a map. However, I have a lot of them, so I'd like to not do it manually.

I was under the impression that there was a points to line tool, but when I select and right click, I cannot find that option anywhere. Is that feature not longer present? Or has it moved? Or am I missing something vital on how to use it?

If Global Mapper doesn't have a tool that I can do this with, are there any suggestions on how to handle this?

Thanks in advance!

You need to export to an ASCII file (.txt, .xyz, csv...) and import back. After you will have the option to create lines from points from the advanced feature creation as you mentioned. It s not working directly on lidar points

  • Okay I understand now. I was importing a CSV, but I think I was still importing it as lidar data instead of just vector data. It works like a charm now.
