Terrain Painting - Interpolate between two points

The current "slope terrain along line" function seems to take the starting elevation and continues it to the end selected line. It would be ideal, if the function took the start elevation and the end elevation of the selected path, and interpolated between those points

If I use the line brush to draw between the arrow tips, the function carries the start elevation to the end of the line... causing a vertical face in the DEM. It would be better to use the start and end elevations, and interpolate between them to create a smooth route.
