Map Layout Editor - Layouts erased after saving

Hi All,

The company I work for has several GM licenses (not network license) and when another team member edits and saves a file where I had map layouts set up in the map layout editor, all my layouts disappear.

To mitigate this I have templates saved, and I create a layer where I have point features that represent the map center so that I can relatively quickly recover the map layouts. However, we have some projects that have 20 or so map layouts in a .gmw file which makes the task of getting these layouts back rather time consuming.

Is there a workaround for this issue, or setting that I am just completely missing?
