Importing Custom LIDAR Classification Codes
Many companies have different feature codes for LIDAR point clouds that do not match the ASPRS classification standards. The only way (that I can find) to modify the software's classification defaults is to right click each and manually change all of the 256 codes. If I want to go back to ASPRS specs the Restore button permanently deletes all of my changes and I will need to repeat the entire renaming process. Changing colors is also a painful process. This is slow and tedious. An option to import in custom codes for 1 to 255 would be greatly appreciated and would help encourage the powerline industry to adopt your software.
The file could be something as simple as:
Code,Description,RGBHex
0,200,FF0000
Would set the 0 code to 200 and the color to red.
Please consider this change. Thank you.

I can't speak for the ability to import custom codes outside of .las/,laz, but if you would like a workaround to save or share your changes to the lidar classifications list in configuration, they are automatically included in the Global Mapper User settings export file. Go to Help - Export User Settings - and check the box for General Settings. This doesn't directly answer your question, but it's a way to save those edits.
Happy Mapping
