How do I size points and symbols in absolute ground units?
How do I size points and symbols in absolute ground units so that what I see on screen is how it will appear on exported image files?
THANK YOU!

Hi Jeff,
When you edit the point symbol on the layer Point Styles tab, feature edit dialog, etc., the Symbol Size button pops up a dialog allowing you to specify the symbol height in meters rather than pixels:

Thank you, Mike. I'm afraid I need more step by step help. If I have just imported a csv file, how do I fix symbol size in ground units... the only option I see is to a scale factor which is a major pain you-know-where.

It does seem like the 'Use Same Style for All' on the Options dialog for the layer doesn't provide the fixed ground scale (I'll make a todo item to add that). Instead, you can do the following:
Do the following after you load the CSV file:
- select all of the points in the CSV layer (select layer in Control Center and press Select All Features in Layer toolbar button)
- activate the Digitizer Tool
- right-click and select to edit the features
- click to 'Specify Style to use', then press the Symbol Size button.
- Specify the symbol size in fixed meters
Thanks,
Mike

Note that in Global Mapper v26.0 and later (to be released later this year), there will be a Symbol Size button on the point symbol dialog that is shown from the Point Styles tab of the Options dialog. This will allow you to specify the scale as a fixed height in meters if you want.
Thanks,
Mike
