Creating 3d mesh from point clouds ("Google" trees)
I have a point cloud from terrestrial scan project which has been been classified and am wondering if there is a way to convert the tree (high vegetation) data to simplified 3d "blobs" similar to what is seen on Google earth and their Street View products. I have played around with "Create 3d model from selected LIDAR points" and have the most success with the Poisson Method, but it seems to create nested surfaces. They are not visible unless you zoom in as shown on the screen capture (the left size is zoomed in on the 2D view). I tried simplifying the resulting mesh, but it still contains multiple "layers". I guess I am looking for a 3d convex hull generator.
