specify transparancy with individual color

I'd like to be able to set individual color transparancy.
So besides hue - sat - lum also transparancy.
Is this possible?
NB I have several instances where for visualisation of pint clouds lower lying points are obscured by higher points and I can not set a see-through transparency.
It needs to be able to function on individual points and not on a complete set.
thanks Stefan

PS with point selections I can do this for the selected points. But I can not do this the other way around (and make the RGB values transparant) - So now I colored them with black. but transparent would be better (and black background so I see only the points selected and not obscured)

used for a very specific project where 3D lidar data (frames) will be super-imposed on hi-framerate video - where the camera angle is matched in the 3D viewer. back will be keyed out. Only selected data points (frames) will be used.
But selected datapoints have to be visible and not obscured by blacked out datapoints (so need transparency)

Hi Stefan,
I've created a new todo item GM-13154 for support some kind of translucency assignment for Lidar. This would require a bunch of work in the 2D and 3D drawing engines, so it honestly would probably require a lot of user interest before we could make these kinds of changes.
Thanks,
Mike

that's what i thought. Something along the line of global transparency like the setting for selection? keep it simple.
I will work with an alternative for so long.
thanks
Stefan
