Is it possible to translate GRS80 2d to GRS80 3d?

I'm studying ellipsoidal datum shifts between Bessel 1841 (for a limited geographic area in Maine) and GRS80. I already have converted the Bessel 1841 2d geodetic values to their 3d geocentric X, Y and Z using with the much appreciated help from Dave Doyle, retired NGS geodesist. I am curious if it might be possible translate GRS80 geodetic 2d positions to their GRS80 3d X, Y, Z geocentric values, either by using Geographic Calculator or Global Mapper?
Or would it just be simpler to equate GRS80 with WGS84 ignoring their minuscule differences?
