Detrending a DEM

Hello,

I'm currently working with some LiDAR data and I've produced a DEM.

I've seen previous posts outlining how to detrend a DEM but I am struggling to follow them, probably due to how dated the question was (https://www.globalmapperforum.com/discussion/12124/detrending-dems). I've attempted to follow it but with no success.

In Layman's terms I simply want to remove the regional tilt from the DEM, showing only differences in value from the trend.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.
