Las to geotiff

Hi all, I a problem regarding my data. I want to export data in las format into geotiff. When I option for 8bit, and I check for the metadata, turn out it is 16bit. When I option for 24bit, metadata of the geotiff shows that it is in 32bit.
Can anyone help me regarding this matter?
