Global Mapper Pro Coming Soon

import of pdf files is impossible with resolution more than 500dpi

I recently noticed that if I import a pdf file with a resolution more than 500dpi into GlobalMapper v22.1 the resulting layer in the layer tree has only 250dpi. I'm sure it still worked a few months ago. I tried older versions than v22 and different machines (all windows 10), but the resulting layer has allways 250dpi.

Does anyone have the same problem and how can you fix it?
Any suggestions for solutions are very welcome.

regards
Daniel

    Hello Daniel,

The software we use to import data from a PDF has limitations on the DPI that can be used. Global Mapper uses the highest DPI that it can for any particular PDF file, depending on the page size and image resolution, but that does not always match the original data.

So, what does this mean for our process? Is it possible to rasterize maps from vector pdf files 1228 x 1610 mm in size with e.g. 500dpi or 600dpi?

    Cheers,
    Daniel

    Hello Daniel,

You should be able to import raster maps from those files into Global Mapper, but it is unlikely that you will be able to get resolution of 500 or 600 dpi from a PDF.

    Cheers,
    Bob
