Copy point attribute to area feature

I am trying to copy the gps time attribute from any point within an area feature to the area feature that it lies within. I plan to the export those area features to show the time points within that area were captured. I tried to select the area and a point(s) inside that area and use the COPY ATTRIBUTES BETWEEN LAYERS and it does not show the point layer as a source option. Is this not supported? I also tried using a script to do the same it also does not work. Is there another way to accomplish this or am I doing something wrong?

I think I found the issue. Apparently LIDAR points imported as LAS/LAZ are not true "points"? I created new points from the existing LIDAR points and once I did that I was able to copy from those new points to the area feature. Not sure if that is by design or not?
