Get reference to selected features, not selected layers

Hi,
I am new to scripting in GM so please have mercy on me if this is actually an obvious thing.
I would like to change some attributes of just the features I selected in the GUI without changing the other ones also if they are in the same layer/s.
I searched about this in the documentation but I couldn't find it, maybe I was not searching for the right words.
Please advice,

Hello,

In the EDIT_VECTOR command, you use COMPARE_STR and other related parameters to "select" features to operate on. There is not currently an option to limit the search to the features currently selected in the UI.
