Version 22 strange export behavior

Hello,
I just upgraded to 22 and when trying to export a PDF or other formats too, after I select the file name, it keeps asking for it again and again, therefore making it impossible to export anything.
I tried the same workspace export with version 21.1 and it worked normally.

    Same problem - also occurs in the Map Layout Editor.

    Checked the layer and the box is checked to allow exports.

    I have emailed their Help Line.  No solutions at this stage.  

    GM21 - I couldn't open a file (except through drag and drop).  No solution was found.
    GM22 - I can't export a file (but I can open files).  

    Personally, it seems like the functionality is blocked by the license or some other part of the system.

    Are you able to create and save a new GM Workspace in GM22?  It is a problem that I am having.

    Sorry for the late reply.
    I also have that problem. It keeps asking me where to save it over and over again.
    So, in sum, it shows the same behavior in any kind of export operation, including workspace ones.
    Let's hope they solve it soon.

    No solution. 

    Inability to export or save files makes GM22 unusable!

    It seems improbable that only you and I have the problem.

    Hi,
    I got an answer telling me to do a clean installation of GM 22 removing beforehand all traces of GM, including several folders and registry keys. It didn't solve the problem.
    Still hoping for a quick solution.

    Same comments for me and same negative result.  This means that GM22 is useless as it is not possible to create and save anything.

    Hello,

    I have been able to reproduce this problem by setting my system code page to UTF-8. When the code page is not UTF-8, the file name gets selected, as expected.

    To see whether your system code page is UTF-8 (Windows 10):

    1. Settings
    2. Time & Language
    3. Language tab
    4. Click Administrative Language Settings
    5. Under Language for non-Unicode programs, click Change system locale...
    6. The Region Settings dialog that pops up has a check box: Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support. If this box is checked, then you are using UTF-8 for the code page.

    This is a bug in Global Mapper. Until it is fixed, you can work around it by unchecking the box to use UTF-8 for the code page.

    Bob, thank you for the response and the nicely specific set of instructions. 

    Having checked and established that I am not using Unicode (beta, Microsoft, nice one...) I now have the confidence to go ahead and install GM V22.  I wouldn't have tracked that one down in a million years (well, maybe with the help of an infinite number of monkeys).  As I suggested to your colleague, Mackenzie, it is helpful and important to get answers like this onto the forum, even if the main effort of tech support is resolving them one-to-one with individual customers.

    Hello,

    I am glad that workaround resolved the problem for you. The fix is now available in Global Mapper daily builds dated Oct. 13, 2020 or later.

    Fantastic - it also fixed a File Open problem in GM21.1 as well as the export/Save As problem in GM22.
