How to exclude empty tiles when exporting elevation tiles based on vector layer

I am exporting several large vector layers and trying to split them into the same tiles using a vector layer to define the tiles. As all the elevation layers cover slightly different areas there are some tiles which will be empty, but this varies depending on which elevation layer it is working on.
At the moment the script is generating a "blank" file for these empty tiles. Is there a way to tell it to simply skip the empty tiles for each elevation layer?

Hello,
We currently have an open feature request to implement this functionality (GM-2561). At the moment, it is not scheduled for implementation, but I added your information to the ticket. Having more users request a new function increases its priority in the scheduling process.
Cheers,
Bob
