Exporting designs from global mapper to other design software to add layers of vegetation, trees etc

Can anyone recommend software that is compatible with Global Mapper which can be used to add layers of vegetation, trees etc ? I am using GM to create large and small scale landscape designs which I need to add more detail to concerning individual trees, windbreaks and orchards. I would appreciate any advice or hear from anyone who is doing similar work. I have been recommended to try Sketchup, AI, and Autocad ...any opinions?
