Global Mapper and ArcGIS export file compatibility

Hello,

Does anyone know how to export a Global Mapper model into a format that will be read by ArcGIS?

My understanding is that I need to get it into a .mxt .mxd or .pmf format. Is that true? If that is so, does Global Mapper support this kind of export? I have been through the help options but I cant seem to be able to find something like that anywhere.

Many Thanks!

Global Mapper does not support export to any of the formats that you described. However, for terrain models I would expect ArcGIS to recognize other formats, like Arc ASCII Grid or USGS DEM that Global Mapper can export, although you may need an add-on to ArcGIS to recognize them (I'm not sure, just guessing).

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hello,

I followed your lead in what you said and after exporting

    a geo tiff
    a shapefile
    a usgs dem
    and an ascii export

i can formulate a respectable model in arcGIS.

many thanks yet again! this also solves our previous full global mapper exporting file package problems. Now we will just send these files which are around 2gb.

    cheers from the rainy england
