Photoshop cannot open exported geotiff

Hi all,

In my workspace I have several geotiff images in a UTM projection. When I try to export a geotiff image of the composite, it works, (albeit slowly!) but photoshop cannot open the file and gives an error message.. something about a problem parsing the tiff data. I've also tried jpgs and png with no luck. Gimp also has problems trying to load the exported images.

What am I doing wrong?!

cheers,

kilolima

    Kilolima,

It sounds like perhaps the resulting image files are too large for those other applications as most applications will load the files entirely into memory. To test this, try using the Export Bounds tab when exporting and just select a small portion of data to export. If the other applications can load those smaller files, then the file size is the issue.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    thanks for your reply.

I tried a smaller selection as you suggested and it worked fine. I then tried a full-size box and all was well. (I think the problem might have gone magically away after I rebooted).

One other quick question: As I'm exporting raster geotiffs, the vector shapefile basemap doesn't get included. Is there someway to include that as well in the geotiff (the project is a series of aerial photographs along a vector shoreline file)?

    cheers,

    Kilolimo,

When you do your export you have to check the box to include vector data to have vector layers included in the raster output.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
