Buffer Tool - Create Line features instead of Area features

Good Afternoon - Would it be possible to add an option to the "create buffers" tool for the resulting feature to be a line feature instead of an area feature?  

I'm not sure about other users, but about half the time I use the tool, my next step is to convert the area feature to a line feature and change the feature type, then delete the area buffer feature.

    Hello,

    I have added feature request 26599 requesting the ability to create buffers as line features to our task list. We will post a message to this thread when the status changes.

    Hi, I'm bumping this request. I had a colleague ask the same question today, since we still just do what DerrickW describes.

    this would simplify the workflow quite a bit.
