DTED Export Filename Convention

I have a request to export DTED level1 in a specific directories and filename convention:
1. The Longitude cells shall be split in separate folders. That is fine, there is a checkbox in the DTED exporter, and the folder's name convention is good.
2. The DTED cell filename shall hold only the N\S for the direction and the cell degree number (e.g. N38.dt1). When prompted to the Save As window I have to give a file name, which must have any name and can't be left blank. That means that I can't get the appropriate name as requested.
Did any body did that before? Is there any easy solution for that?
