Delete Attributes? within Global Mapper?

When I load/import shapefiles, they come with column upon column of data, most of which is worthless for my project. Can I delete these columns within Global Mapper prior to exporting to a new shapefile? Thereby reducing both the size and complexity of the data set.

Thanks

Yes, to do this, select the Digitizer Tool, then use the Edit->Select All menu command to select everything, then right-click and select the option to edit the features. On the dialog that appears you will be able to delete attributes that you don't want.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

Complicated process, but works as described. :)

Did a test and the DBF file was reduced by 40%, the SHP file changed not at all, no surprise, didn't delete any vectors, only attributes. Most important, all the clutter is removed from the search dialog.

I'll definitely be using this process more often.

    Many thanks.
