APPEND_TO_FILE in GENERATE_PATH_PROFILE

Hello,

I'm just picking up Global Mapper and trying to find my way around the scripting interface.

I have a tab delimited (X,Y,Z) file covering approximately 50 km^2 of seabed and I'd like to extract the depth along a number of paths to a single file.

Here's my test script:

GLOBAL_MAPPER_SCRIPT VERSION=1.00

IMPORT_ASCII FILENAME="C:\path\to\file.xyz" TYPE=ELEVATION COORD_DELIM=WHITESPACE COORD_ORDER=X_FIRST
GENERATE_PATH_PROFILE FILENAME="C:\path\to\prof.csv" START_POS=603000,8157000 END_POS=603000,8158200 APPEND_TO_FILE=YES POINT_COUNT=2
GENERATE_PATH_PROFILE FILENAME="C:\path\to\prof.csv" START_POS=603000,8158200  END_POS=602000,8158200 APPEND_TO_FILE=YES POINT_COUNT=2

I would have expected that to generate a C:\path\to\prof.csv file similar to this:

603000.000,8157000.000,-416.38
603000.000,8158200.000,-419.39
603000.000,8158200.000,-419.39
602000.000,8158200.000,-419.52

However, C:\path\to\prof.csv contains only this (missing the first GENERATE_PATH_PROFILE output):

603000.000,8158200.000,-419.39
602000.000,8158200.000,-419.52

Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks a lot!

Stuart

    Hello,

That is the result of a bug that was fixed over a year ago, in Global Mapper 18.1.  What version of Global Mapper are you using?

    Cheers,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

I'm using v18.0 (b111616). Is there an easy (hopefully free...) way to upgrade?

No worries if not, I've worked around it by producing sequentially numbered files and pulling them all into a single file. It's a bit of a faff though!

    Cheers,

    Stuart

You can upgrade to Global Mapper 18.2 here.  There is no charge to upgrade within a major version (e.g., 18.0 to 18.2).

    Cheers,
