what are my alternative options?

I have been attempting multiple different lidar scripts throughout the past few weeks and many have been halted due to the fact the GM scripting language is limited, and cannot complete the tasks i need it to do. 

If desired lidar functionality cannot be performed within gm scripting, is downloading and using LAStools the only next option that i have? What other options can i resort to if GM scripting cannot get the job done?
