Contour lines of grading benches

I am not an expert of civil work but we are trying to learn how to provide such data using GM.
After creating a flattened area from an area feature and setting the software to create benches (1m bench every 5m drop) we would like to create contour lines that reflect this shape, so a line on the inside of the bench and one on the outside. It is a very common thing to be seen on drawings so we hope it is possible to do it in GM. Please advice.
Best regards

Can you show an example? I think I know what you mean but a picture would help.

    Hi again

Just few thoughts. If you have created a bench which has equal elevation across it, then contour lines will be a bit odd. Rather than creatiing normal contours, how about creating contour lines at specific heights a fraction above and below the bench heights (e.g. height plus 0.01m, height -0.01m). The contours could then be converted to area features. Whilst they would not be geometrically absolutely accurate, they would illustrate the benches clearly.
  • Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
I didn't think of that process, it could work. But, I have to do that for many places with many different elevations so it would be faster to bring it in a CAD software and draw additional lines where needed.
Our problem is, exactly as you thought, the benches are flat so the contours usually go diagonally inside it. It could be great to have the possibility to get a contours line all around the same elevation area instead of inside it.

This an example of what we have. It is just a small piece of the whole map so it is not easy to do something manually.
