Mirroring a river line
I have a River line -- so it has meandering curve bends etc. Without using buffer, which gives me polygon instead of lines, how can I get another two lines parallel to this river centerline on its both sides at given distance? The offset function doesnot work as the line is meanderin gad does not have one fixed direction along it.

Use the buffer, convert the polygon to a line shape, split using 4 points at the "ends" and remove the ends to leave two lines.
(Assuming there isn't a more simple way that I am unaware of)
