Feathering doesn't work for 4-band imagery

Hi, it seems like when we feather Geotiff imagery using a shape, only 3 of the 4 bands get feathered along the edge correctly. The 4th band (Near Infrared in this case) is not feathered.

Hello,

We don't currently support feathering or other types of blending on bands other than the selected RGB bands.

Currently the workaround is to do separate exports with the RGB bands set up differently, like one export to a 3-band file for RGB bands, then change Band Setup to grayscale on band 4 for both files and export a single band file.

Once you have the 2 feathered exports (one 3 band from RGB bands and one single band from B4 of the original data), load those back in as normal layers and export out to a new 4 band file.

We have an open item (#19272) in our task list to implement feathering on non-RGB bands.

Thanks, Bob. That's good to know. Currently this is what we are doing, it's just a bit of a long workaround for something we hoped could be done in one step. Is there any expected timeline on the open task list?

At the moment, we don't have an expected timeline for when this will be implemented.  I added your information to the open feature request.  It generally helps to have more people asking for any particular new function.  We will post a message on this thread when the status of the item changes.

Hi Bob, 

Do you know if there is a way around this using the Global Mapper SDK, or if there is an update on the status of the task item?

This bug is going to quickly become a huge problem for us, as we have thousands of 4-band images collected this season.

We would also like the feathering/blending feature implemented on 4 band rasters to aid in high-volume production. Would you have an update on ticket #19272?

There is still no specific implementation date for the ability to feather 4-band rasters.  I have added your information to ticket #19272, and we will post a message on this thread when the status of the feature request changes.
