Error when trying to load XML data

I have a bunch of elevation data which is made available in XML format. It can be downloaded from public servers in Japan upon going through certain registering processes and is usually provided inside a zip-file.

In the past it was always possible to just drag-and-drop the zip-file into GM and the data was displayed correctly. However, with data downloaded recently, the following error messages appear:

As zip-file:
"Reading this data directly from an archive is not supported. Please unarchive the data and try again."

As XML:
"No data could be loaded from the file."

What is odd, that I can still correctly load data which I previously downloaded and have saved on my computer locally. I noticed, that there appears to have been an update recently on October 1st, 2016, so my guess is, that maybe the data provider changed something about how the data is referenced or something like that.

I have attached a sample zip-file. I would highly appreciate if someone could give it a try and may be able to give a hint. I am not into the details of the software architecture and what I may have to adjust, so any advice would be highly appreciated.
