elevation range, change from meters to feet.

I am a new user of Global Mapper and just bought v18. I am trying to contour using the Generate Contours (from terrain grid). The problem I have is the Elevation range is in meters and the program tells me I have no data in that elevation range. Where do I find the setting to change this? I have set all the other fields to US Feet, but have been unable to find where to change that setting.

    Just tested on my program:
Load your elevation data.  It can be in meters or feet.

Use View | Status Bar to display data on the bottom of your program screen.

If it shows meters as you move around, use Tools | Configure | Vertical Options | Elevation Display / Export Units to select Statute (ft).  Now your Status Bar should show feet as you move around.

Create contours using Analysis | Generate Contours.  Set your Contour Interval and units in feet.

When contours are complete, your Status Bar should show the current contour level as you move around.

  • Thanks, Mykle.
But that didn't solve my problem. I had everything set up like you said, when I try to contour my data in the Analysis I Generate Contours the elevation range is still in meters not feet. My status bar is in feet, and it is showing the elevations as I move it around. Anything else I need to check? The current view has a colored relief map, but for some reason won't let me contour.

I have elevation data in meters.  I use the procedure that I described.  The Contour dialog is below, with units changed to feet, otherwise using default values.  The contours were quickly generated without problems.  What is different from your project, especially looking at your units?
