Assigning values to a SHP feature code from a TXT file

Hi,
I have a SHP file with a GEO code for each defined area.  I have a TXT file with the GEO code and population for each GEO code.  In Global Mapper how do I import the TXT data into the SHP file or create the query?

    Sorry, I found it.  Right click on layer, JOIN TABLE.  This prompts you for the feature name in the layer to the column name in TXT/DATA file.  In my case, the second column name was Population, which then became a new feature set in the layer.
