Shapefile DBF storage

Hi, I hope someone can help me here...

I have modified some attribute values in a shapefile by doubl-clicking on various polygons in my workspace and typing in new values in the "Modify Feature Info" window. I now need to work with this data in an Excel spreadsheet, but if I open the DBF file which is attached to the shapefile I've been working on, none of my data is found in the respective columns where I typed in some data. Where are the changes to the database stored then?

    Hello,

    After you change the attributes, you have to export your data back to a shapefile to get an updated DBF file.  Global Mapper stores the changes you made in the workspace, but does not update the DBF unless you export the data.
