Volume behind level contours

Dear all, 

I am opening scour cavity topographies in Global mapper, and I would like to know if is possible to determine the volume behind a specific level contour (that i may select, for instance below the zero level). I tried to see the cut and fill volumes but I am not sure about what they mean in practice.
