Export areas, edit & reimport

I'm wanting to add additional attributes to an existing shapefile of area features. Is there a way to export the shapefile, add attributes via excel and re import?

Hello,
As far as I can tell, it is possible to edit the DBF that contains shapefile attributes in Excel (I used 2010), but Excel can't export the DBF. Your best bet is probably to export a comma-separated value (CSV) file from Excel and use Global Mapper to join the CSV with your loaded data.

I'll give this a shot next time I have a similar project come up. Thank you Bob.

Figured it out like you said bob.
The original file I had had unique identifiers (like "lndky); so by making a separate CSV that had a "lndky" column and all the attributes I wanted to add, I was able to link them using the "JOIN TABLE" function.
Thank you!
