Create max elevation point for every highest contour

I use GM 17.1

I have contour lines created from a DEM that illiustrates penetration values of a surface.
I would like the to get a point for the max elevation within each of the top contour lines.

I can get global mapper to find one max and min in the whole analysed area.
But what I need is the max elevation within every max contour line that is defined by the interval setup.

Ex.
A hilltop with max elevation of 20,1m
contourlines are made for every m up to 20. I would like a point at 20,1m.
I can do this if i only have one hilltop, but i have to analyse hundreds.

Can i find every  max elevation in global mapper?

    Hello,

You can find the highest and lowest points within an area as follows:
    1. Select the maximum contour lines using the Digitizer
    2. Right-click and choose Analysis/Measurement | Calculate Elevation/Slope Stats for Selected Features
There is not currently a way to just compute the highest point.  We have an open feature request to add the ability to detect the highest points (peaks) within an area, but it has not been implemented yet.

    Cheers,

    Bob

Thank you, pretty much how I am doing it now. But excited to hear abut the peaks feature request, sign me up.

    Hi,

I was asking for this feature last year to pinpoint treetops. One of the options I was suggested was to create reasonable grid (e.g. 50mx50m, 20x20m, etc) for the whole area. By selecting grid it's possible to get automatic min/max elevation inside each cell of the grid as a new poit feature. It's the same workflow as suggested by bmg_bob but instead of selecting contour you select grid cells.
    best regards,
