How to convert AIS kml file to shapefile, with attributes from each vertex assigned to line segment

I have a kml file which comes from an AIS feed.  The kml file displays as a single line made up of multiple segments, but the vertices all have attributes associated with them (heading, speed, time etc.) which do not get exported when I convert the kml to other formats, such as a shapefile.

Is there any way to export the vertices (or preferably the line segments) into a shapefile and keep the attributes?

    What version of Global Mapper are you using?  Can you post a zip archive containing a sample KML file?
