CARIS Spatial Archive (CSAR) files

Hi,

I was wondering if Global Mapper and the SDK have plans in the near future to support importing CSAR formatted files. There is an overview of the format at:

though this web site does not provide much in terms of the specifics of the file format.

Also, I have found a link that the USGS is using them at:

http://water.usgs.gov/GIS/metadata/usgswrd/XML/pp1798J_Union_Pipeline_20110727_csar.xml.

Any information you have on possible future support for this format would be helpful.

We have an open feature request (#15985) to import CSAR files directly into Global Mapper, but it has not been scheduled yet. I have added a link this thread to the feature request, and we will post a message here when the status changes.
