'Draping' an image onto a vertical surface

I've got vertical (nadir) imagery, and I've got horizontal (terrestrial) imagery. The goal is to have a three-dimensional surface at right angles, with the image applied so that each surface has the appropriate imagery assigned. The nadir image drape is easy enough. The image 'drape' of the horizontal maybe not so much.

The vertical shape is irregular, and the accompanying is irregular, so I'm not sure the application of a texture would work. (Though I'm hardly on expert on textures.)

Any ideas? I had thought to 'tip' the upright surface so that it lay over on its side, drape the image, and then stand it up again. But I'm not sure how to do that within GM.

Ideas?
